In the past I got a plenty of feedback regarding my Westors Elgg Manager plugin. In the hit list of the most recommended plugins this tool is in the top ten (~ 10.000 downloads).

I am a professional software developer and I have fo be payed for my work as you are for your work.
I tryed to split up a professional verson of this program, but unfortuantly not many people payed.
I know, this is a very useful tool for admins to manage their users, groups etc. On the aother hand it helps users, to get more comfortable with messaging with community members and outside to external users and friends they have.
I don't want to see the plugin die, therefore now I try to collect the development costs for the next release by a kind of crowdfunding.

Next Development Steps:

• Make it work with current Elgg version.
  That means, that it is running with that version which is latest, when the new plugins version is released
• Shift to the latest and fastes qooxdoo version (the JS framework I use)
• Make the table virtual
  The current table loads the data of all available users you selected to your browser. First of all this is slow and may bring your browser down. If you have a big user base, it is impossible to manage all of them. The program will come up with an connection time out error. I want to change this behaviour with a virtual table, where only the data you currently need are in the memory of your browser.
• remove SMS functions for default behaviour
  SMS functionality is a special customer development. You have to contact me and negotiate with me a developers agreement. Note: The frontend for SMS is already usable with some functionality, e.g. the program supports already verification of the users mobile number, or you or your users can send SMS time controlled to several users. But because every country has special conditions and providers for sending SMS via a gateway, customizing may be a time consuming task.
• Managment of Elgg entities (display and full manipulation)
• - These functions is only available for admins
  - Inspect an entity by entering the GUID or right click on a user to see all the properties of his entity
  - Hover over a line and see addional informations for a date or a code
  - Show all children of an entity (e.g. all blog entries etc.)
  - Modify or delete metadata of an entity

Ideas for Steps behind the next release. New funding is needed, to go on, but here are some ideas:

- Extend the messaging system to a newsletter system eg to send messages to a special group or to a selection of groups, track the clicks, manage drafts, use variables for idividual postings (serial letter) etc.

- find spam in your community and suggest to delete it (search for several suspecting hints, like the amount of postings per user in a short time frame or posting with a plenty of links inside or blog entries with special keywords. There should be a functionality to delete the content and to block the user(s) with one step

- improve the messaging system to display the messages with one contact in a userfriendly history

- protect your users from spam: limit sending of emails by a timeframe / a number of users
